Wednesday Friends Day

michelle-landreau

Michelle and I are practically neighbors, but we went all the way to Italy to meet. She attended Retreat Rome, and I’m so glad she did. She is adorably down to earth and a little bit silly (in a good way). Her work is fantastic, and she’s a threat with a film camera. I finally talked her into shooting one of my Contaxes and was blown away by what she came up with! So much talent!

{Wednesday Friends Day is a simple project with a simple purpose. I have collected quite a few portraits of my friends throughout my time as a photographer. This project helps me to reflect on those portraits and reconnect with or just be thankful for these precious people. I’ll be sharing an anecdote or something I love about each person pictured here in this series. If you’re not pictured here and you’d like to be, then let’s be friends. If we already are friends, then it’s only a matter of time.}

sam-wardAs a photographer, it’s easy to become friends with other photographers. Especially photographers with warm hearts and gentle spirits. And big sparkly brown eyes that smile effortlessly. Sam Ward is one of the photographers who attended our beloved Retreat Rome. She was somewhat the life of the party and had us all laughing too hard to breathe at some point throughout our three-day getaway. She’s hilarious.

In the heart of Rome, Italy, there is an adorable bakery shop. Inside the door to the left sits a smiling, white-haired Italian grandpa, who wears a red scarf in the winter time. To the right, there is a grand glass case, full of the most beautifully sweet, creme-filled delicacies imaginable. Most have some degree of chocolate. Some are colorful. Behind that case, there is a smiling face, much like her grandpa’s but younger. Meet Maria Giulia. She insists that you try the teeny tiny canoli. You do it and you’re never the same again. Passionate, kind, gracious, and genuine. Maria Giulia.

Sara Russell is curator, creative director, and editor in chief at Wedding Sparrow. Another gem who I am happy to have met at Retreat Rome, Sara is bright, funny, and incredibly stylish. I have to say the thing that stands out about her is her professional prowess. I so admire how she has sought, defined, and filled a niche as the UK’s premiere fine art wedding blog. Big and beautiful things are on the horizon from this lady. Watch and see.

sarah-chanceySarah Chancey (Chancey Charm Weddings) is one of Atlanta’s best luxury wedding designers. We first met at a coffee meeting where we exchanged ideas on business and have since become good friends. My favorite thing about Sarah is her ability to completely diffuse awkwardness. She is calm and quick to listen but also quick to fill in the silences when I simply can’t think of anything to say. I imagine this quality is something that attributes to her extraordinary wedding planning skills. She is a people person.

claudia-mejerleClaudia Mejerle Rogers is an absolute doll. My favorite thing about her is her text message language. She is one of the very few people who can make me laugh out loud via text messaging (and does so on a regular basis). I also love her smile and her pretty eyes, I mean really.
