Del’Avant Kress Ballroom

LaGrange, Georgia

Oh, where to begin! This wedding day is not the typical candidate for super 8mm cinematography. You see, in my experience, most couples who love super 8mm film, also love natural, relaxed, outdoor celebrations. However, Amanda and Daniel are different in that they were drawn to my vintage wedding videos more for their classic and nostalgic nature. You will notice that this couple’s wedding day is laced with tradition and elegance. A church ceremony and a ballroom reception can fit just as nicely into a super 8mm film as can a farm, beach, or mountain fête.

Amanda and Daniel love the classic, grainy, esoteric nature of super 8 film. With this vintage medium, many highlights of a wedding day are exhibited plainly, while so much is still left to the imagination. The love and laughter is felt instead of heard. The soft grain speaks to a bygone era, while a mix of modern and classic music embody the elements of love, style, and emotion that transcend time, touching both young and old. The full film from this wedding is set to a mixture of tunes from Frank Sinatra and Ray Lamontagne to Phillip Phillips. The perfect fusion of modern style and old school fun.

Between the refurbished 1920′s ballroom, the groomsmen in white dinner jackets, the classic trolley, and the beautiful candle light, this traditional wedding made the perfect unexpected candidate for a super 8mm wedding film. My favorite element from this wedding might have been the father of the bride. He was a character, and he didn’t try hide it. How special to have video footage of his smile, his laugh, his salute! This inspires me to create videos of my own loved ones. Something about motion is irreplaceable.
