Her collection of re-purposed treasures and vintage goodies is sought after by brides, hostesses, and photographers alike. We all not-so-secretly want her to decorate our houses! What brought you to (or kept you in, or brought you back to) Atlanta?
I was born in Atlanta and then moved to south Georgia during middle school and highschool. Upon graduating high school I moved back to Atlanta to attend college at Georgia Tech. I’ve been here ever since.
How do you pay the bills? What is your “slash”? (i.e. teacher/ amateur cupcake baker)
Blue Eyed Yonder is my full-time / dream job
What do you create?
I’m usually the first to exclaim, “I can make that!” Raised by the Queen of DIY (before DIY was cool), I’ve always been taught to be thrifty and artistic – a killer combo. I love creating artistic installations of scale – starbursts created with 1,000+ plastic spoons, paper flowers as big as your head or a glimmering fish scale backdrop of gold paper plates. I like to use common objects in unique applications.
What do you collect?
It’d be easier to ask me what I don’t collect. I’ve always been fascinated by collections in general, I love to see groupings of similar items: old keys, candlesticks, bottles, you name it! Collecting’s in my blood – that’s the main reason I started Blue Eyed Yonder (slightly addicted). I collect lots and lots for Blue Eyed Yonder’s inventory, but currently have a few new personal collections as well. I collect Jeanette Shell Pink glassware and also Moonstone glassware. I have a growing collection of vintage photos featuring the family dog. I also have quite the collection of flower frogs. I’ll cut it off at that, I could keep going and going.
Your favorite artist now and as a child:
Growing up I always admired my mother’s artistic talent. She was always busy making or creating. She sewed, cross-stitched, smocked and painted. She even hand-painted some of our clothing and shoes (gotta love the 80’s). As an adult, there are so many artists that constantly inspire (some living/some dead). One of my favorites is Tim Walker. I am drawn to his exaggerated style; beauty mixed with a touch of darkness.
Last memorable home-cooked meal:
My husband and I have recently journeyed into the world of paleo. So we eat home cooked meals 3 times a day. Whew! That’s a lot of cooking and dish washin’, but in the end I know it’ll be worth it.

Kauai, Hawaii
If you were a color in the biggest crayola box, which would you be?
First of all I have to say I LOVE a fresh box of crayons! Sometimes I can even be caught sniffing a fresh box in the art supply aisle. It brings back such sweet childhood memories: the beginning of school, fun days coloring with my sister. When it comes to crayon colors I have to be true to my childhood favorite – magenta – which will forever be known as “purplish-pink.” My sister and I always fought over that color, but come to think of it, we fought over everything. Haha!
What is your favorite artifact, heirloom, or art piece in your home?
My favorite piece of art in my home are two paintings my husband and I did while traveling in France. One afternoon, we both sat in the courtyard of le Chateau des Alpilles in Saint Remy Provence and painted the view. We had two rules: #1 you could paint anything that you could see in front of you and #2 no peeking at the other person’s painting. It was so much fun to see how we each interpreted the landscape in front of us. It was also nice to just slow down and enjoy France, the afternoon and each other. So many memories in those two little paintings.
What song do you love most (or what’s on your playlist now)?
One of my favorite songs is Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harem. It’s a song I want to listen to when I happy, when I’m sad or any place in between. I love listening to the lyrics and imagining what they might be about. I think I love the mystery of the song the most. It’s always funny to hear all of the wild speculations about the song’s meaning.

Now that’s a trick question. My favorite is a one-of-a-kind Australian Shepard Mix like my sweet Dottie
